The benefits of red light therapy

Longevity, redefined
Red Light Therapy uses specific light spectra to promote well-being and recovery.
Particularly effective are red light (630–660 nm), which supports cell renewal and collagen production, and near-infrared (850 nm), which penetrates deeper into the tissue. These wavelengths stimulate the mitochondria, boost ATP production, improve blood circulation, and activate the body’s natural regeneration processes.
Smart wellness applications combine these spectra in a perfectly balanced mix to improve appearance, well-being, and vitality – naturally and gentle.

Read more aboutIs the effectiveness of red light therapy scientifically proven?
Hundreds of scientific studies confirm the benefits of red light therapy on performance, recovery, and skin health. Proven benefits of the red light therapy include enhanced collagen production, improved metabolism and blood circulation, and increased ATP production.
We’re happy to send you a white paper with the latest studies on the effects of red and near-infrared light.
Read more aboutIs red light therapy suitable for everyone?
The positive effects of red and near-infrared light applications are scientifically documented. In general, the treatment is well tolerated and suitable for all skin types. However, pregnant individuals, people with epilepsy, and those with increased light sensitivity or who take photosensitizing medications (e.g. certain antibiotics or St. John’s Wort) should avoid using it.
For acute or chronic health conditions, we recommend consulting a medical professional in advance. For first-time users or individuals with low blood pressure, we advise starting with a short session to assess individual tolerance.
Read more aboutHow long does a red light session last?
A typical session lasts between 10 and 20 minutes. The soothing effects of red light can begin within minutes. Red light therapy supports cell regeneration and stimulates collagen and ATP production from the very first second.
These positive impulses—along with the activation of deeper tissue layers and improved circulation—continue to take effect after the session. We recommend waiting 24 hours between treatments. The best results are achieved through regular use.
Read more aboutHow can I achieve the best results with red light therpay?
The light is absorbed through the skin – the body’s largest organ. For best results, we recommend full-body application to benefit not only from local effects but also from systemic benefits.
For optimal outcomes, we recommend using red light therapy several times a week, depending on your personal needs. The skin should be clean and free of makeup or skincare products during the session. A healthy lifestyle, proper hydration, and regular physical activity can help to enhance the benefits of the treatment.
Read more aboutWhich devices are suitable for which applications?
All wellsystem red light devices offer tailored solutions for a wide range of applications and industries. Whether as an added regeneration service in fitness studios, a combined beauty and relaxation treatment in spas and wellness areas, or a unique recovery experience for hotel guests – our products integrate seamlessly into both new and existing spaces.
Read more aboutDo I need to protect my eyes?
No special eye protection is required during wellsystem red light sessions, due to the carefully chosen dosage. The red light and near-infrared used penetrates the skin safely and does not harm the eyes. For maximum comfort, however, we recommend keeping your eyes closed during the session.
Individuals with light sensitivity can wear protective goggles if desired. Contact lenses can be used during usage.
Read more aboutWhat are the differences between red light, near-infrared, and infrared?
DThese light types differ primarily in wavelength, energy level, and tissue penetration depth:
- Red light is visible and ranges from about 600 to 780 nanometers. The 630–660 nm range is especially effective for skin treatment.
- Near-infrared (NIR) starts around 780 nm and penetrates deeper into tissue, making it suitable for supporting systemic effects. The spectrum around 850 nm is considered particularly effective.
- Infrared (IR) has longer wavelengths than NIR and is classified as thermal radiation. It is often used in infrared saunas and heat lamps for therapeutic purposes.
wellsystem RedWave devices use visible red light and near-infrared (NIR) to combine the benefits of both spectrums.
